Hm... it should be "Naraku" not "Nara". Nara = 奈良, now that would be something totally different.

Budaixi (Chinese pronunciation for this type of Handheld Puppets) is a traditional folk-art that is popular in Fuuken (a province in the southern part of China) and Taiwan.
In the old days, just like Homers of Greek, these Puppet Performers travel from city to city telling stories (mostly epic of historic heros) using these puppets. They were always part of the big festivals etc.
The traditional puppets are small (palm size) the two hands are control by thumb and a fingers.
After WWII, a particular Performing Troupe got a contract with a TV Station (Taiwan only had 3 at the time with limited air time) and their show - tales about a fictional historic hero was aired. It had an unprecedented following. So big that the government decided to shut him down (do not even try to understand the reason behind it)
Anyway, many years later. This kind of Puppet Shows were broadcast again but a lot of regulation. In 1989-ish, the performing troupe decided to make their show into direct to video rental only so that they do not have to deal with TV Stations.
Over the next 20 years, the puppets have evolved to be about the size of Hound/ Mecha Angel. They are now controlled by two hands or two puppeteers

The idea of this contest is to set you up completely blind with a mythical being - from any world culture - and turn you loose to come up with a deviation based around it!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
In this article you will find many thumbnails of the sun in different forms, all photography featured here by the club feature-me. Please show your support for these artists and their work and the article so that more people can see their work.
